Constitutionlawyer Eyes Stakes Breakthrough After Consecutive Optional Claiming Triumphs

Constitutionlawyer, owned by West Paces Racing, Brown Road Racing, Adelphi Racing Club, Shelly Hume, and Russell Hume, is gearing up for the $150,000 Queens County, a nine-furlong race for 3-year-olds and up at Aqueduct Racetrack on December 31.

Trained by Ray Handal, the 4-year-old gelding, a son of Constitution, recently secured consecutive victories in optional claiming races at the Big A, showcasing a remarkable progression. His last win came in a one-mile contest where he displayed a determined performance, earning a career-high Beyer Speed Figure of 94.

Handal expresses confidence in Constitutionlawyer's mental and physical development, emphasizing his potential for further improvement. Having previously faced tough competition, including a race against Bright Future, who later won the Grade 1 Jockey Club Gold Cup, Constitutionlawyer boasts a promising 17-4-1-3 record with nearly $300,000 in earnings. Handal anticipates positive results in the upcoming nine-furlong test, emphasizing the horse's adaptability and his team's confidence in his abilities.
